Volleyball Falls 3-1 to Trevecca Nazarene

The Tiffin University volleyball team (5-6, 1-2 GMAC) fell 3-1 to conference opponent Trevecca Nazarene.

The Trojans won 31-29, 25-21, 17-25, and 25-22.

The Dragons jumped out to a 9-5 lead early in set one. TU kept the pressure on as they held a 15-9 lead and held the lead up until match point at 24-20. The Trojans then went on a 4-0 run to tie the game at 24-24, and the visitors outscored the Dragons 7-5 down the stretch to take set one 31-29.

Trevecca built an early 7-4 lead in set two. However, the Dragons went on a 6-2 run to take a 10-9 lead. Both teams traded points until the visitors went on a 4-0 run to lead 19-16. The Trojans kept the lead the rest of the set and won 25-21.

The Dragons played well in the third set as they built an early 7-2 lead. TU continued playing well and increased their lead to 15-8. Tiffin easily won the third set 25-17.

In the fourth set, Tiffin held a slight advantage at 11-8, but the Trojans went on an 11-2 run to lead 19-13. TU fought back, going on a 5-1 run, but could not retake the lead and the Trojans won 25-22.

The Dragons were led by Wakaya Wilson with 15 kills and 15 digs, Taylor Peterson tallied 12 kills with a .321 hitting percentage, five digs, and one block assist, and Brie Wight recorded seven kills with a .100 hitting percentage, two digs, two solo blocks, and two block assists.

Clare Kwiatkowski led the team with 24 assists, one service ace, and 11 digs, and Diana Heitkamp led the team with 31 digs, five assists, and one service ace. 

Heitkamp's 31 digs was a career-high, her previous career-high being 21 against Northern Michigan where she had 21 digs.
