Dragons finish 3-1 after Eckerd Tournament

Tiffin University (3-1) split its two games on day two at the Eckerd Tournament, defeating West Liberty 25-23, 25-18, 17-25, 25-14 before falling to Eckerd in three straight 25-11, 25-19, 25-16.

The Dragons played strong defense against West Liberty, holding the Hilltoppers to a negative attack percentage in two of the four sets. The Dragons also totaled 18 block assists, only making one error up front while hitting .181 in the win.

With the first set tied 4-4, the Dragons went on a 8-3 run to pull ahead 12-7. West Liberty then bounced back to pull to within 23-22, but a kill by Brie Wight and a service error on set point gave TU the opening set.

TU blasted ahead early in set two, racing to a 13-5 lead. After West Liberty rallied on an 11-3 run to tie the set 16-16, TU pulled it together to close out the set on a 9-2 run.

After dropping the third set, TU took back control in the final set by opening with a 14-6 run. The Dragons didn't look back, as they finished the match with another 11-8 run to win their third straight match to open the season.

Wakaya Wilson led the way with 11 kills while Rylie Roggow had 10 kills and a .500 attack percentage. Alivia Rew, Kenedi Goon, and Taylor Peterson all had 6 kills apiece.

Clare Kwiatkowski (18 assists) and Addison Conti (16 assists) combined for 34 assists, while Amari Torain and Diana Heitkamp had 12 digs each.

Against Eckerd, the Dragons managed a .074 attack percentage while Eckerd pounded its way to a .322 percentage.

Wilson led the Dragons again with 7 kills, followed by Rew with 5 kills and Peterson with 4 kills. Conti totaled 10 assists while Heitkamp had 7 digs.
