The Tiffin University volleyball team lost to Ohio Dominican 3-0.
The Panthers improve to 16-11 overall and 9-5 in the GMAC, while the Dragons fall to 11-16 and 5-8 in the GMAC.
The Dragons jumped out to a 6-3 lead early in the first set, and followed that with a 5-0 run to lead the Panthers 12-4. ODU responded with a 6-0 run of their own to bring the score to 12-10. The two teams traded points until the Panthers were able to tie the game at 20-20. ODU outscored the Dragons 5-1 to make it set point at 24-21, but Tiffin rallied to tie the game at 24-24 and went on to lead 27-26. The first set went into extra points with neither team able to pull away until Ohio Dominican put together a 3-0 run to win the first set 34-32.
After a long first set, the second set saw the Panthers lead 7-3 early. The Dragons chipped away at the host lead until they went on a 4-0 run to lead 11-10. ODU countered with a 5-0 run to lead 16-13, and they then extended their lead with a 5-0 run to lead 24-16. The Dragons won the next two points but Ohio Dominican won the second set 25-18.
Ohio Dominican put the pressure on in set three, opening up a 13-5 lead. Tiffin outscored the Panthers 8-5 before going on a 5-0 run to tie the game at 18-18. ODU stopped the bleeding and was able to get a two-point lead at 21-19. The Dragons were able to tie the game again at 21-21, but the Panthers outscored Tiffin 4-2 to win set three 25-23.
Brie Wight led the Dragons with 8 kills, a .208 hitting percentage, three digs, and 2.5 blocks for a total of 10.5 points, while Grace Schreiber had five kills, four digs, two blocks, and two service aces. Loryn Huffman recorded 36 assists, six digs, and 1.5 blocks.
