Huffman Adds AVCA All-Region Honor

The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) released its 2019 All-Midwest Region volleyball teams on Wednesday, and Tiffin's Jenna Huffman earned First Team honors.

This is Huffman's first time on an AVCA All-Region squad, and Tiffin volleyball's first representative as a member of Division II. The Dragons' last AVCA regional honor came in 2006 when Holly Morgan was named to the NAIA Second Team. In the NAIA days, TU had a total of nine AVCA All-Region players, making Huffman the 10th in program history.

Huffman finished 2019 atop the region in five individual categories, leading with 4.76 kills per set, 562 total kills, 5.34 points per set, 13.21 attacks per set, and 1,559 total attacks. With the NCAA Tournament yet to be played, she is also currently first in all of Division II in each of those categories except for total attacks, in which she is second in the country.

The regional honor is the second of the day for Huffman, who this morning was also named D2CCA First Team All-Midwest Region. It adds to an already decorated final campaign for Huffman, who has been named First Team All-GMAC, First Team CoSIDA Academic All-District, and received the GMAC Player of the Week honor twice.

A total of 14 student-athletes from the region earned First Team honors, with an additional six receiving Honorable Mention recognition. Once again, Huffman was the only non-Hillsdale player represented on the First Team from the GMAC, but another fellow conference member did earn an Honorable Mention spot in Cedarville's Lauren Willow.

Huffman will now wait for the release of the AVCA's All-America teams on Dec. 10 to see if she will become Tiffin's first-ever All-American honoree.
