Ferris State Too Much For Tiffin

The Dragons, coming off a five set win less than 24 hours ago, were tasked with a tall order as the GLIAC leading Ferris State Bulldogs came calling. 

The Bulldogs, having lost five of their last six games, seemed a bit sluggish early in the opening set. Tiffin kept pace with the Bulldogs, and eventually took a one point lead at 9-8. The sluggish start by Ferris State was short lived, as the Bulldogs finished the set on a 17-9 run to drop Tiffin 25-18. The Dragons hit at only a .182 clip and committed seven errors. On the other side of the net, the Bulldogs posted a .481 hitting percentage.

The second set was the most competitive for Tiffin as the Dragons fought hard to take a late 22-21 lead. The two teams traded points and the score reached a 24-24 draw with Tiffin having the serve. The Bulldogs hammered a kill to take a one point lead, and then took the set on a Tiffin attack error 26-24.

In the final set, the Bulldogs were really good at the net committing only one attack error in 37 total attacks. The Dragons scuffled down the stretch producing their lowest hitting percentage in the final set as they fell 25-17.

Jenna Huffman reached double digits in kills for the Dragons logging 12 and a .385 hitting percentage. Amanda Curry had another nice game at the net, posting 10 kills in 22 total attacks. Emily Weithman finished with 21 assists and led Tiffin with three service aces.

Tiffin falls to 12-11 overall and 6-5 in the GLIAC. Tiffin will be back in action on Tuesday, taking to the road to battle Central State and Urbana.
