The four athletes qualified in five events. Freshman Brook Boes qualified in both the discus and shot put, while Marisa Gwinner and Mercedeez Francis both qualified in the high jump. Ines Macadam also earned her spot in the 800 meters.

This marks another landmark achievement for Gwinner and Francis. Gwinner is a four-time indoor and two-time outdoor All American in the event who won the 2019 outdoor national championship. She has also won the GMAC championship in the event six times between indoor and outdoor seasons. She is currently 4th in the nation with a qualifying mark of 1.78 meters.

Francis, meanwhile, is a three-time indoor and one-time outdoor All American in the same event. She has also won a GMAC title in the high jump. Francis is 6th in the nation with a mark of 1.76 meters.

Macadam is a two-time GMAC champion who also recently qualified for the 800 meters in the indoor season. Her time of 2:10.11 is ranked 24th in the nation.

Boes has had a memorable debut season for TU. She was the GMAC outdoor champion in the discus, hitting 49.88 meters at the championships. That mark landed her a spot at the national championships and ranks her 8th in the nation. Her mark of 14.42 meters in the shot put is also 20th nationally.

The championships will be held May 26-28 at the Grand Valley State Track & Field Stadium in Allendale, Michigan. Grand Valley State University and the West Michigan Sports Commission will serve as co-hosts for the championships.
