10th ranked Lady Dragons to compete in 7 events at Nationals

Tiffin University's women's indoor track squad, which rose two spots to 10th in the national rankings this week, will send six athletes to compete in seven events at the NCAA Division II National Championships.

The championships will be held March 11-13 in Birmingham, Alabama at the Birmingham CrossPlex. The University of Montevallo and the City of Birmingham will serve as co-hosts of the championships. The championships will be streamed live on NCAA.com.

Jazilee Williams will compete in two events, posting the 9th best mark in the pentathlon with 3630 points while also placing 13th overall in the long jump with 5.85 meters.

Marisa Gwinner has the highest spot in the national rankings, sitting 2nd in the high jump with 1.77 meters. Mercedeez Francis will also compete in the high jump, holding the 7th best mark at 1.73.

Nicole Berry will compete in the shot put, sitting 4th with 15.27 meters, while Rajiah Andrews is also 7th in the 60 meter hurdles with 8.70 seconds. 

Madeline Hayes also made the cut, finishing 10th in the pole vault with 4.00 meters.

Gwinner is a three-time All American in the high jump, winning a national outdoor title in 2019 after finishing 3rd at indoors the same year. Last season she had one of the best marks in the nation before the championships were canceled due to Covid-19.

Berry is an All American shot putter, while Williams was also an All American qualifier in the pentathlon last season. Francis (high jump) and Andrews (60 hurdles) also earned All American honors in their events last season.
