INDIANAPOLIS - The Great Midwest Athletic Conference released the 2019-20 Women's Indoor Track & Field All-Conference teams and individual awards on Thursday, with 11 Tiffin members earning recognition including Jazilee Williams as Field Athlete of the Year and Keyonna McGill as Freshman of the Year.
Individual honors correspond to each athlete's top event finish at the conference championships, with a first-place finish receiving First Team honors, second-place to Second Team, and third-place to Third Team.
Five Dragons made the First Team in McGill, Williams, Rajiah Andrews, Marisa Gwinner, and Brenda Johnson. McGill was second in both the 60m and 200m with times of 7.56 seconds and 25.37 seconds, respectively. Williams took first in a pair of events, winning the pentathlon with 3655 points and the long jump with a mark of 5.62 meters. She also took second in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.94 seconds.
Andrews also won a pair of events, taking first in both the 60m and 60m hurdles with times of 7.51 and 8.59 seconds, respectively. Gwinner took first in the high jump with a school-record clearance of 1.80 meters, while Johnson claimed the shot put title with a throw of 15.06 meters.
Second Team honors went to Venasia Beckford, Tatiyana Cooper-Laylor, and Mercedeez Francis. Beckford and Cooper-Laylor both made the Second Team as members of Tiffin's 4x400m Relay squad that finished second with a time of 4:02.22. Francis finished second in the high jump with a clearance of 1.64 meters.
Miaisha Blair, Nicole Berry, and Madeline Hayes were named to the Third Team. Blair got the nod after finishing third in the triple jump with a mark of 11.02 meters, while Berry took third in the shot put with a throw of 14.38 meters. Hayes finished in a three-way tie for third in the pole vault with a height of 3.51 meters, receiving the all-conference honor after taking the tiebreaker due to the best mark during the season.
