Lepinay wins B draw at ITA Midwest Regional

Anaelle Lepinay won the B draw at the ITA Midwest Regional, as Tiffin's women's tennis team opened their fall season in strong fashion.

Lepinay buzzed through the competition, winning all six matches in straight sets. She beat Southwest Baptist 6-0, 6-2, Findlay 6-2, 6-3, and Purdue Northwest 6-1, 6-1 to reach the quarterfinals.

In the final three rounds, she beat Maryville 6-4, 6-3, then beat Grand Valley State 6-3, 6-2 in the semis before taking out Wayne State 6-3, 6-2 in the championship.

Also competing in the B flight was Carina Avram, who opened with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Illinois-Springfield and a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Findlay. She fell in the round of 16 to Wayne State 6-0, 4-6, 10-7.

Celine Ferron also competed in the B draw, falling to Wayne State in three sets 3-6, 6-0, 10-8. She then bounced back in the consolation rounds with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Davenport and a 6-3, 6-2 win over Davenport.

In A flight, Sarah Roy opened with a 3-6, 6-4, 13-11 battle over Davenport before falling to Wayne State 7-6, 6-4. Emily Barrett fell to Rockhurst 0-6, 6-3, 10-4 before also falling to Findlay in the consolation bracket 6-4, 6-2, and Jemimah Choi opened with a win over Grand Valley State 6-4, 6-2 before losing to Southwest Baptist in three sets 1-6, 6-3, 10-6.

In doubles play, Barrett/Maeva Maxch made a long run in the B flight. After an opening bye, they beat Davenport 6-2 in the round of 16 and then dispatched Ferris State 6-3 in the quarterfinals. They fell in the semis 6-4 to Davenport.

Tiffin's other B team of Ferron/Ashley Reinhart fell to Quincy 6-1 before falling to Saginaw Valley State 6-0.
