TU women's tennis opens season at BGSU Invite

Tiffin University's women's tennis team opened its 2017-18 season with invitational play at the Bowling Green State University Invitational.

The Dragons were competitive throughout, with Anais Geslin winning two matches to reach the semifinals in her singles bracket. She defeated Shawnee 6-0, 6-0 and Case Western 6-2, 6-2.

Other TU players picking up wins were Juliette Sirgant (beat Shawnee by default, then beat NW 6-0, 6-0); Lauren Prince (beat Kenyon by default, then fell to BGSU 6-3, 3-6, 10-8); and Abbie Riley (beat Oberlin 6-1, 6-2, then lost to Toledo 7-6, 7-6). Also competing in singles play was Sarah Herald (lost to Case Western 6-0, 6-4), Miah Ryland (lost to NW 6-4, 4-6, 10-8), Emily Sim (lost to Toledo 6-0, 4-6, 10-4), and Adel Musina (lost to Case Western 6-3, 6-3).

In doubles play, three teams went 1-1. Musina/Sim beat NW 6-1 before falling to BGSU 6-3, Prince/Riley beat NW 6-3 then lost to BGSU 6-2, and Herald/Weidner beat Shawnee 6-1 before falling to Case Western 6-1. Geslin/Sirgant fell to Kenyon 6-4 and Case Western 6-4.

Play will continue on Sept. 9.
