Dragons Fall Short in Narrow Defeat

The Dragons (1-4-3, 1-3-1 G-MAC) traveled to face conference-leading Northwood on Wednesday afternoon, suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat.

It was an even match in terms of shots as the Timberwolves had the slight advantage in total shots, 11-10, and in shots on target, 6-5.

Following a scoreless first half, it took Northwood just under two minutes to take the lead on an unassisted goal after the restart. Tiffin did not back down, however, threatening the goal on multiple occasions late in the second half.

In the 81st minute, the Dragons had an opportunity to level the match on a shot from Yozelin Castro. The shot was palmed away well by the Northwood goalie to maintain its lead.

Tiffin continued to push and had two more shot attempts in the final five minutes but were unable to find the target as it ended 1-0 after full time.

Castro led the Dragons in both shots (3) and shots on goal (2), followed by Kaelyn Harkness with two shots. Malea Nelson played well in goal, recording five saves in total.

Next up, Tiffin returns home for a match against Ursuline on Wednesday, October 4th at 12 p.m.
