Lennig Tallies Three Assists in Senior Day Victory

The Dragons (1-1-3 overall, 1-0-1 G-MAC) picked up their first victory of the new season on Senior Day, Saturday afternoon, following a 3-1 win over Kentucky Wesleyan (0-4-0, 0-2-0).

Tiffin kicked off the match aggressive on offensive, controlling possession and pressing high when they did not have the ball. It paid off quickly as the Dragons won a free kick deep in the attacking third. A perfect delivery from Emma Lennig found the head of Suzy Hayes who flicked it past the goalie for an early 1-0 lead.

Roughly five minutes later, the Dragons doubled their lead. This time from a corner as Lennig passed to the back post, just in time for Kaelyn Harkness to head home another goal. Kentucky Wesleyan responded on a counter-attack in the 13th minute to cut the deficit in half.

The Dragons outshot the Panthers 12-8 in the first half, however, the two goals were the only shots on target.

The second half was mostly quiet as Tiffin continued to control the majority of possession. The Dragons were not content with the one-goal lead as they continued to press. The pressure became too much for the Panthers in the 83rd minute as Lennig connected with Harkness once again on another corner, sealing the victory.

Tiffin recorded al three goals on set pieces thanks to Lennig who tied the all-time record for assists in a single game with three. Harkness tallied a brace, recording her second and third goals of the season as well. Hayes recorded her first goal of the season and controlled the midfield with numerous tackles.

The Dragons will hit the road for their next three games, starting with a rivalry matchup against Findlay University on Wednesday, September 20th at 1 p.m.
