Women's Soccer Opens Season on a High in Win Over Lewis

The Tiffin University women's soccer team opened its season with a 1-0 shutout win over non-conference opponent Lewis at Illinois-Springfield.

The Dragons came out on top in the first half as they held a 1-0 lead thanks to veteran Kristen Dickison who scored in the 17th minute. She received the ball around the 18-yard box, dribbled past two defenders, and slotted the ball into the bottom left corner of the net. 

Malea Nelson had four crucial saves to keep Lewis from scoring. The Flyers outshot TU 9-5, more shots on goal 4-3, and more corner opportunities 1-0 after 45 minutes of play.

Lewis put the pressure on the Dragons in the second half as they outshot TU 7-2 with four shots on goal.

Malea Nelson had a big game with eight saves on the day to keep a clean sheet and teammate Kristen Dickison scored the Dragons' first goal of the year.
