Tiffin Falls to Conference Opponent Walsh 4-2

The Tiffin University women's soccer team was defeated by the Walsh Cavaliers 4-2 in regulation.

The Dragons drop to 1-8-1 overall and 1-5-1 in the GMAC, while the Cavaliers improve to 2-5-2 overall and 2-2-1 in the GMAC.

It was an exciting first half as each team scored two goals each, deadlocking them at 2-2 after 45 minutes of play.  

Walsh struck first in the 14th minute of play off a bad clearance by a Tiffin defender and Sabrina Ortenzi put it in the back of the net to lead 1-0. Then, in the 30th minute, Emma Siler scored off a cross from Kristen Dickison to tie the game at 1-1. Not a minute later the Cavaliers scored again off a shot from outside the 18-yard box to regain the lead. Tiffin fought back though as Emma Siler was one-on-one with the keeper and drew a penalty. Dickison converted the penalty in the 35th minute to tie the game at 2-2.

The Cavaliers outshot the Dragons 14-10 in the first half but Tiffin had more shots on goals with five compared to Walsh's three. The Dragons had more corner kick opportunities in the first half by a 4-0 margin.  

In the second half, Walsh's second-half adjustments proved to be the difference maker as they were able to break the deadlock in the 59th minute. The Cavaliers doubled their advantage in the 85th minute of play and would go on to win 4-2. Walsh outshot Tiffin 8-6 in the second half with two shots on target compared to the Dragons' one. The Cavaliers had the advantage in corners 5-2.

Malea Nelson played all 90 minutes in the net for the Dragons and had six saves in the game.
