Dragons Strike First But Fall to Storm

PAINESVILLE, Ohio - Tiffin women's soccer got on the board first in the seventh minute, but Lake Erie scored twice before the first half was over and held the Dragons quiet in the second period to win 2-1 on Sunday afternoon.

The Dragons fall to 0-2-1 in GMAC play, while Lake Erie improves to 1-1-1.

Tiffin came to play early, as the first shot by either team was TU's goal in the seventh minute as Lily Cady tallied her second goal of the season off an assist from Lauryn Grcic.

The Storm bounced back quickly, however, scoreing in both the 14th and 19th minutes to take a 2-1 lead that held for the rest of the game.

The Dragons had multiple opportunities in the second half, including four shots in less than a minute span between the 69th and 70th markers. All four (Danielle Turton, Emma Siler twice, Kristen Walker) were turned aside by Storm keeper Megan Biddel, though, who finished with nine saves on the afternoon.

Nahomi Lopez had three saves in goal for Tiffin, as the Dragons had one less shot attempt (13-14) than the Storm but were far more accurate, putting 10 on frame compared to just five for Lake Erie.

Cady, Siler, and Claudia Santillan all had multiple shots on target, but only Cady was able to find the back of the net for Tiffin.

After three weeks on the road, the Dragons return home next weekend to host Trevecca Nazarene on Thursday and Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday.
