Two advance to second day of NCAA Wrestling Championships

Two men's wrestlers have advanced to the second day of the NCAA Men's Wrestling National Championships in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Zack Donathan (141 pounds) posted two victories to advance to the semifinals March 11. He defeated Newberry by fall in 52 seconds and then won his quarterfinal over Central Oklahoma in just 30 seconds. He will now face John Carayiannis of Belmont Abbey in the semis.

Brandon Mendoza (125) also moved on, opening with a tough 2-0 win over Central Oklahoma before falling to Lander 16-7. He bounced back with a pin victory over Gannon in 6:20 to secure his spot on day two. He will now face Patrick Allis of Western Colorado.

Casey Barnett (157) opened strong with a pin in 3:46 over Newman but then suffered two narrow losses. He fell to Indianapolis 6-4 and finally to Central Oklahoma 4-2.

Jake Noon (197) also lost by fall to both Central Oklahoma in 2:29 and Colorado Mines in 1:34.
