Two first-place finishes were the highlight for Tiffin University at the John Carroll Open.

Anthony Aniciete (125 pounds) and Jakob Hurley (165) both won titles in their weight classes in the Blue Division. 

Aniciete posted a major decision 11-1 over Toledo, followed by a slim 5-2 win over Edinboro and a 7-4 decision in the title match against Edinboro.

Hurley, meanwhile, also picked up three decisions on his way to the title. He won 8-3 over Ohio State Club, 2-1 over Fairmont State, and 2-1 over Mercyhurst.

Evan Straub (197) posted a second-place finish. He opened with a pin in 1:51 over John Carroll and another win by fall in 1:57 over Ohio State Club. His loss was by a 10-1 score tto Edinboro.

Dean Hetrick (184) also had a third-place finish. He lost initially 9-4 to Ohio State Club but then posted four wins in a row for third place. He pinned Charlie Brosch in 1:19, had a medical forfeit over Baldwin Wallace, beat teammate Nate Mansor 5-0, and then outpointed Maison Benz 5-2.

Another third-place finish came from Emilio Arellano (157). He opened with a 5-4 win over Toledo and a pin in 5:23 over St. Cloud State. He then fell 9-1 to Baldwin Wallace but bounced back for his final two wins. He outpointed John Carroll 8-3 and won the third-place match 7-4 over Akron.

Also getting wins at the JCU Open were Iain Escobar at 157 pounds (14-13 over Akron), Carson Steinmetz at 174 pounds (3-0 over John Carroll), and Mansor (pin in 1:30 over Akron).
