Mason takes 3rd at Ohio Collegiate Open

Tiffin University's wrestlers had a number of placers over two divisions at the Ohio Collegiate Open hosted by Case Western Reserve.

In the Gold division, Nick Mason placed third at 197 pounds, picking up wins over Edinboro 6-2, Indiana 3-2, and Mercyhurst 5-3.

Other TU grapplers getting wins in the Gold division were Dylan Mansor at 149 pounds (3-0 over Ohio State, fall in 0:23 over Cleveland State), Bryan LaVearn at 157 pounds (12-3 over Edinboro, fall in 3:12 over Ohio State), and Hunter Langeloh at 157 pounds (two falls over Edinboro in 1:33 and Ohio University in 5:39).

In the White division, 157 pound Christopher Donathan won his weight class with five straight wins. He downed Notre Dame 8-4, then posted three straight falls over Davenport in 3:58, Case Western in 2:51, and John Carroll in 5:54. He then won the championship match in a narrow 7-6 decision over Buffalo.

TU also had two fourth place finishes. Kaeden Hatlay (165) had wins over Mercyhurst 7-5 and Akron in sudden victory 5-3, while Kian Thompson (285) also had a pin over RIT in 1:00 and a 5-3 win over Edinboro.

Two more Dragons got 6th place finishes. Raymond Adams III (125) had a 9-6 win, a pin over Case Western in 59 seconds, and another pin over Pitt Johnstown in 2:15, while Matthew Zuckerman (141) flattened Buffalo in 1:48 and then posted decisions over Ohio State 7-2 and Ohio Wesleyan 17-2.

Also posting wins in the White division were Ashten Moody (149 - pin over Ohio Wesleyan 2:54), Samuel Lofaso III (157 - Fairmont State 17-0, pin over Ashland 3:48), Nicholas Smythe (184 - Case Western 7-2), and Austin Winegarner (285 - pin in 4:56).
