Tiffin University's wrestling squad led half way through their match at 4th ranked Ashland, but it wasn't enough, as the Eagles dominated the upper weight classes and won 27-12.
After Giuseppe Penzone (125) fell 8-0 and Rico Puente (133) got pinned in 3:46, TU trailed 10-0. But the Dragons rallied for three straight wins, starting with Bryan LaVearn's (141) narrow 4-3 victory.
Collin Adkins pulled off a strong upset at 149 pounds, pinning his opponent in 3:50, while Beau Minnick (157) put TU ahead in the dual with a razor thin 3-2 decision. TU led at the midway point 12-10.
The Eagles lived up to their billing, however, winning the last five matches. Richard Screptock (165) lost 5-0 as AU retook the lead. Chase Boyd (174) suffered a loss by major decision 13-1, while Hayden Bronne (184) nearly beat his unbeaten and 2nd ranked opponent, Jordan Murphy, but a late turn in the third period gave Murphy a 9-6 victory.
Nicholas Mason (197) fell short 10-1 as Ashland secured the victory, while Chase Carter fell at 285 pounds in the final match of the evening 5-0.
