Tiffin University had five placers at the 39th Annual Midwest Classic, as the Dragons finished 8th of 35 teams overall.

Wisconsin-Parkside won the event with 137 points, while Ashland was second with 117.5. McKendree took third with 112. Tiffin totaled 70.5.

Trey Grine and Nick Mason both had the highest finish for TU, taking fourth. Grine (149 pounds) posted three straight wins to reach the third place match. He defeated Upper Iowa 7-1, Mercyhurst 6-3, and Augustana 18-3. He lost a tough 10-9 decision in the third place match to Central Oklahoma.

Mason, meanwhile, won a 3-2 decision over Upper Iowa and then edged Wisconsin Parkside 13-10. He also advanced to the third place match with a medical forfeit before falling 8-6 to Coker.

Giuseppe Penzone (125) finished in 6th place. He opened with a 7-2 win over McKendree and a pin in 1:15 over Western State but then fell 17-2 to Wisconsin Parkside and 13-11 to Central Oklahoma.

TU had two other wrestlers that finished 8th. Beau Minnick (157) pinned UNC-Pembroke in 2:49 before falling 6-3 to Ashland and 12-1 to Findlay, while Hayden Bronne (184) flattened McKendree in 47 seconds before falling 4-3 to Indianapolis and getting pinned in 1:56 by Drury.
