Dragons grapplers compete at Findlay Open

Tiffin University had three placers at the Findlay Open, with Trey Grine taking 3rd at 149 pounds.

Grine posted wins over Ohio Northern 15-0, 17-1 over West Liberty, and 4-2 over Ohio University before dropping a slim 7-6 decision to Indianapolis. He then won the third place match 2-1 over Wheeling Jesuit.

Hayden Bronne (184) finished 6th overall, bouncing back from a 10-8 loss to Ohio Northern with three straight pins (0:57 over Indianapolis, 1:33 over Findlay, and 4:14 over Ohio Northern). He then fell via pin in 3:47 to Notre Dame.

Kian Thompson (197) also finished 6th. He opened with a 9-4 win over Lake Erie before falling to Gannon 6-0. Thompson then responded with a tough 9-7 win over Muskegon and a 3-2 score over Lake Erie before falling in the 5th place match 6-0 to Lake Erie.

The final placer for TU was Beau Minnick (157), who took 8th. He opened with a pin over Ohio Northern in 1:19 and a 5-3 win over Wheeling Jesuit before suffering a 7-3 setback to Lake Erie. After advancing via  medical forfeit over Ashland, he fell in 5:32 to Gannon.

Other winners for TU included Nathaniel Stubblefield at 125 (4-3 over Notre Dame), Collin Adkins at 141 (7-4 over Wheeling Jesuit, 3-2 over West Liberty), Hunter Langeloh at 141 (3-2 over Wheeling Jesuit), Derek Gross at 157 (6-5 over Ashland, 6-5 over West Liberty, 12-8 over Ohio Northern), Matteo Lybarder at 165 (13-10 over Ashland), Richard Screptock at 165 (8-6 over Ohio State), Nick Mason at 197 (3:25 over Indianapolis), David Henson at 285 (1:11 over Muskegon), Caleb Fry at 285 (8-4, 0:35 over Wheeling Jesuit), and Jacob Perry at 285 (1:14 over Gannon, 2-1 over Findlay).
