Gray back at top in D2 Falls category

Garrett Gray, Tiffin's dominant Midwest Regional 285 pound champion, is back on top of the NCAA D2 Falls category, as the NCAA released its latest Wrestler Award rankings.

Gray, with a record of 38-2, is tied atop the Falls rankings with 16 pins with Western State's Ronald Wardleigh (125 pounds). He currently holds the tiebreaker with an aggregate time of 42:53.

Gray is also 3rd in the nation in the Most Dominant category, accounting for 4.69 team points per match. He trails Austin Goergen of St. Cloud St. (5.11) and Cody Law of Pitt-Johnstown (4.79).

Gray will join teammates Trey GrineMichael ScreptockSam Viengmany, and Jared Chambers at the NCAA National Championships.

Grine (29-9) will take on Darren Wynn of McKendree (33-7) in his opening round match at 141 pounds, while Screptock (26-10) will battle Logan Grass of Mercyhurst (24-11) at 149.

Viengmany (16-11) opens up against Destin McCauley of Nebraska-Kearney (31-6) at 157 pounds, while Chambers (17-13) has a tough draw against Nicholas Fiegener of California Baptist (31-2) at 184 pounds. 

Gray (38-2) will square off against Ryan Appleby of Kutztown (18-10) at 285 pounds.
