Tiffin University (ranked 23rd in Division II) upset No. 18 Newberry with a dramatic pin by Garrett Gray, as TU won 2 of 3 duals at the Super Region 2 Duals hosted by Newberry Jan. 28.

TU bounced back from a 30-16 loss to King with a thrilling 21-20 win over Newberry. They then finished the day with a dominating win over Coker 29-18.

Against Newberry, TU trailed 20-9 with just 3 matches left but they then won all three including Gray's dramatic pin in 4:52 to get 6 points and the victory. Jared Chambers pulled out a sudden victory win 3-1 at 184 pounds, while Kevin Christman kept it rolling with a 4-1 win at 197 before Gray finished off the upset win.

TU had a shot against King, trailing 11-9 with six matches left. TU dropped four straight matches, however, falling too far behind to catch up. The Dragons dominated against Coker, though, building a 29-9 lead by winning 6 of the first 8 matches.

Trey Grine (141) had a forfeit win along with a pin in 3:38 and a big 17-1 victory. He joined Mike Screptock (149) in going 3-0 on the day. Screptock had wins of 8-2, 7-4, and 11-5. Christman had 2-0 and 4-1 wins, while Gray won his two matches 10-0 and via pin in 4:52.
