Dragons win second straight with 13-12 thriller over Chowan

Tiffin University (2-2) won its second straight nailbiter, this time at Chowan 13-12.

A close first quarter ended with Tiffin getting three straight goals over the final 2:00, as Caylin Kunze scored twice and Gabrielle Beals scored a man-up goal to make it 5-3 heading to the second quarter.

The Dragons expanded their lead in the third quarter, getting two quick goals on free position goals by Beals and Katelyn Jarvis to make it 9-5.

Chowan chipped away at the lead and made it 13-12 with 1:31 left. Chowan then won the draw control but Gabby Wilson caused a turnover with 41 seconds left and retrieved the ground ball to give TU possession and the eventual victory.

Shots were even at 27-27 but TU won the draws handily 19-10.

Beals had a big game with 3 goals, an assist, 7 draws, 4 ground balls, and 3 caused turnovers. Kunze and Jarvis also had 3 goals each, while Wilson had 2 goals and 7 draws. Lillian Graham also had 2 goals with 5 draws.

Jenay Rennie got the win in goal, making 8 saves.
