Ashland edges Dragons 18-15

Tiffin University (1-10, 1-3 GMAC) battled with Ashland on the road but could not overtake the Eagles in falling 18-15.

Tiffin started strong, going ahead 3-0 on two goals by Rylee Sutherland along witih a goal by Angela Lulejian. Another Sutherland goal pushed TU's lead to 4-2, but Ashland rebounded to go on a 5-2 run over the rest of the first quarter to lead 7-6 heading to the second period.

Ashland then pulled ahead 9-6 early in the period, but goals by Cassidy Kumiega, Tonesty Burt, and Sutherland knotted the score at 9-9. A late AU goal gave them a 10-9 halftime lead.

In the third, Sutherland again scored to tie the score 10-10, but the Eagles shut TU out the rest of the quarter, going 4-0 to give themselves a 14-10 cushion.

In the final period, Ashland did not allow the Dragons any momentum, expanding their lead to 17-12 with 3:41 remaining to put the game away.

Overall AU outshot TU 36-27 and forced 18 TU turnovers while committing only 10.

Daniela Carey had a strong game, tallying 6 goals with 2 assists and 4 draw controls, while Sutherland finished with 5 goals and an assist.

Gabby Wilson had a goal and 10 draws, Kumiega had a goal and assist, as did Lulejian.

Jenay Rennie took the loss in goal, making 11 saves.
