A slow first half was nearly overcome by a furious charge in the second half, but Tiffin University (0-4) came up just short, losing to Slippery Rock 16-9.

The Dragons found themselves down 3-0 after the first 10 minutes before Daniela Carey scored from the circle on a pass from Elle Hamilton to make it 3-1.

That goal was all the Dragons could muster in the opening 30 minutes, as SRU took a 6-1 lead into the halftime break.

Leading 8-1, the momentum looked to be all in the Rock's favor, but Tiffin stole it back with four straight goals over a 5 minute period. Carey scored on a pass from Rylee Sutherland, followed by Leah Davis's free position goal. Hamilton then scored from the circle, and Sutherland added another goal from a Hamilton dish to make it 8-5 with 18:19 to play.

With the Rock up 9-5, TU added three more goals to pull to within 9-8 with 11:30 to go. Carey scored again on a pass from Hamilton, Hamilton added a free position goal, and Carey buried another pass from Sutherland in the net, all in a two minute attack.

Slippery Rock held its composure, though, scoring seven of the next eight goals to pull away over the final 10 minutes.

Overall SRU outshot TU 34-21 and held a 25-18 ground ball edge. Tiffin also committed 21 turnovers.

Carey totaled 4 goals on the day, while Hamilton had 3 goals with 3 assists along with 4 ground balls and 6 draw controls. Sutherland had a goal and 2 assists with 4 draws, while Davis also tallied a goal.

Jenay Rennie took the loss in goal, making 15 saves over 60 minutes.
