Dragons drop close game to Falcons

Tiffin University (0-2) came up just short on the road at Notre Dame, dropping a 14-12 decision.

The game was close throughout the contest. After Elle Hamilton tied it 2-2 in the 24th minute, Notre Dame went on the attack, scoring six of the next eight goals to take a 8-4 lead with 13:23 to play.

Tiffin rallied late in the first half, scoring four straight goals. Danielle Roberts tallied two, along with Daniela Carey and Hamilton, as TU tied it 8-8. The Falcons tacked on a goal late to lead 9-8 at the half.

Notre Dame held a big 23-13 shot advantage at the half, and they continued the barrage in the second half. After Hamilton tallied two quick goals to put TU up 10-9 early in the second half, Notre Dame scored five of the next six goals to lead 14-11 with just 2:04 left.

Tiffin managed just 8 shots in the second half, only scoring once over the subsequent 24 minutes after Hamilton's goal at the 24:55 mark.

Overall Notre Dame held a 41-21 shot lead and also grabbed 28 ground balls to TU's 21. The Falcons also won the draws 18-11.

Hamilton finished with 4 goals, 1 assist, 6 ground balls, and 7 draw controls while also causing 2 turnovers. Carey also had 4 goals with an assist along with 3 ground balls. 

Danielle Roberts had 2 goals and 2 assists, while Rylee Sutherland also had 2 goals in the game.

Ariel Gold started in goal, playing 17 minutes and allowing 8 goals with 7 saves. Jenay Rennie finished over 43 minutes, allowing 6 goals and making 10 saves.
