
Tiffin University and Northern Michigan were in a two-team showdown at the Saddlebrook Spring Kickoff in Wesley Chapel, Florida heading to the final round.
The Wildcats improved by 7 strokes in round two (336-329) while the Dragons did even better with a 9 stroke improvement (339-330), with NMU holding a slim 665-669 lead after the second round. Ferris State was well back at 710 while Walsh had 722.
Amanda Johansson continued to lead the field, holding steady with a 78-80 for 158 total, while Alice Putoud improved by five stroke (84-79) to climb to third overall with 163.
Alexis Savage and Emily Koehler also had strong days, with Savage rising from 89 to 85 for 174 while Koehler had a 6 stroke jump from 92 to 86 for 178. Melissa Gabriele was fifth for TU, dropping from 88 to 101 with a 189 overall score.
Also golfing as individuals for TU were Jena Huffman (94-100 for 194), Emily Bogner (103-98 for 201), Kyla Johnson (202), and Ashley Franklin (232).
Round three will conclude the Kickoff March 8.
