Tiffin University (9-7) came as close as it could to pulling off the upset of top-seed Hillsdale in the GMAC Men's Tennis Championship, falling 4-3 by the slimmest of margins.

The entire match came down to the results at 5th singles, as the two teams were tied 3-3 when TU's Matthew Telford came up just short 1-6, 6-4, 7-6 to give the Chargers the title.

Tiffin picked up three points in singles play, with Michael Gurtner getting a 6-3, 6-3 win, Cyrille Colomb pulling out a 7-5, 6-3 decision, and Hugo Chatras gutting out a 7-6, 7-6 victory.

Besides Telford's narrow loss, Joe Gilman also lost by a razor thin 7-5, 7-6 score. Nair Adi also lost 6-0, 6-2.

TU also dropped the doubles point to Hillsdale, falling in two of three matches. Gilman/Gurtner posted a 6-2 win, but suffered setbacks from Chatras/Telford (6-4) and Adi/Matt Saunders (6-3).
