Dragons Felled By Warriors

DETROIT, Mich. - Tiffin men's tennis continued the nonconference slate with a match at Wayne State on Wednesday afternoon, falling to the Warriors by a final of 7-0.

The Dragons were tested against one of the top teams in the region and put forth great efforts in many matches despite not getting any wins.

In doubles, Austin Mohamedali and Matthew Telford came close to a victory at No. 3, falling 7-5. That was after the other two doubles matches had already been completed and the point awarded to Wayne State, as Nikita Parfenov/Michael Gurtner fell 6-4 at No. 1 and Gabe de Oliveira/Hugo Chatras were defeated 6-1.

One Dragon was able to take his singles matches to a tiebreaker but could not quite seal the win. At No. 4, Chatras won the first set 7-6 (7-5) but then fell 6-2 and 12-10 in the tiebreaker.

At No. 6, Tom Blaquiere got his first action in a Tiffin uniform, dropping the first set 6-2 before nearly pulling off a set two win but coming up short 7-6 (10-8).

The Dragons have two more matches this week, as they travel to face Oberlin on Saturday and Northwood on Sunday.
