Men’s Soccer Begins 2021 Season Versus Gannon

The Tiffin University men's soccer team will begin its 2021 season against Gannon University.

Dragon Details:

The Dragons will look to continue their quest for the NCAA regional berth after reaching the GMAC Tournament Championship game this past spring. The Dragons won the 2019 GMAC Championship in 2019 to qualify for the NCAA Regional the last time the NCAA held a postseason competition.  

Key returners for the Dragons are Second Team All-Conference Selection Juan Rosique who was second in the conference in goals and points with nine goals and four assists. Caleb Gibbons was sixth in the conference in goals and points with six goals and three assists. The team is also bringing back three key members on the defense with Third Team All-Conference Selection Aaron McCready, Declan Lehman, Ignacio Mazarro, and George McCarthy giving TU depth in the backline. 

Scouting the Golden Knights:

Gannon finished the 2019 season as runner-up in the PSAC Championship. The 2019 PSAC West Coach of the Year, Billy Colton, guided the Golden Knights to an 18-3 record giving them a berth in the NCAA Regional, where they beat Assumption to make it to the third round of the Tournament. 

Redshirt Junior Sergio Del Castillo is the top returner for Gannon as he was the 2019 PSAC West Freshman of the Year and second-team All-PSAC West Selection. He tallied nine goals and six assists in 2019 and added 8 goals and an assist last spring. Lucas Oliveria is also returning as he scored six goals and three assists, and teammate Lennox Crews contributed three goals and three assists in the spring and recorded five goals and three assists in 2019.
