Tiffin University (11-5-5) and Maryville battled in the second round of the NCAA Super Region 3 playoffs, with the defensive battle going the Saints' way in a slim 1-0 decision.

Both teams had thrived all year behind the strong play of their defenses, and the game lived up to its billing as both teams allowed very little offense to develop.

Tiffin was allowed only two shots on goal in the contest, with Darren Appanah getting a chance in the 25th minute when he put a shot high and to the right but MU made the save to keep the game scoreless.

Five minutes later Cameron Paton took a cross from Ben Brodie at the top of the box on the left side and sent it into the lower left corner of the goal for Maryville's only goal of the game. Tiffin could manage no more shots on goal over the remainder of the half as the Saints led 1-0 at the break.

Tiffin only had one more shot on goal over the final 45 minutes, as Joel Daly put a shot on target in the low center of the goal but again Maryville made the save in the 83rd minute.

Overall Maryville outshot TU 9-5, including 5-2 on goal. Tiffin had more corner kicks by a 7-5 margin.

Dylan Morris took the tough loss in goal, making 4 saves in 90 minutes.
