Caleb Gibbons and Pace Thomas have been named GMAC Soccer Players of the Week.

What a week it was for the freshman Gibbons, starring in a featured role, as he netted a goal in the semifinals and finals of the Great Midwest Tournament.

Gibbons was instrumental in both final four rounds in Dayton, Ohio, last week at Roger Glass Stadium. The freshman drilled the first goal in semifinals against the tourney top seed and nationally ranked Lake Erie at the 62-minute mark.

Gibbons played all 105 minutes of the double overtime thriller against the Storm, a memorable finish that saw Leo Hasenstab score the game-winning goal for the Dragons.

In the championship finale, Gibbons was big time again. In a game that did not see a lot of shots on target for either team, Gibbons found a way to put one of his two shots into the back of the net.

Gibbons goal came at the 20 minute mark in the first half and was the game-winning goal for the Dragons over Cedarville. His right footed shot crept into the bottom left corner of the net.

The Dragons enter the Super Region 3 section of the NCAA bracket as the six seed and will travel to No. 3 seed Maryville on Sunday for a 1 p.m. ET start time.

On the opposite side of the field, Thomas led the stout defense of the Tiffin Dragons during their victories in the semifinals and finals of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championship tournament in Dayton.

The sophomore from nearby Findlay played all 105 minutes against the Storm in the semifinals and the Dragons only gave up three shots on goal and one goal total.

In the finals, Thomas was pivotal for helping keep Cedarville off the scoreboard in a shutout effort.

The Dragons also didn't even allow a shot on goal in the finals against Cedarville and Thomas was a huge part of that. Thomas headed away multiple over the top through ball attempts to stifle the Yellow Jackets throughout the game.

Thomas also took two shots for good measure in the championship.

Thomas and the defense will look to continue halting the opposing attackers as they travel to Maryville in the NCAA Tournament on Sunday.
