Dragons Suffer First Defeat in Conference Opener
The Dragons (5-1, 0-1 G-MAC) struggled to contain Walsh's offense, falling for the first time this season, 83-70.
TU shot 41.7 percent from the field compared to the 53.1 percent of the Cavaliers. As usual, the Dragons did well to make many trips to the charity stripe but converted just 58.3 percent of their 24 attempted free throws.
The first half was fiercely competitive with all nine lead changes in the game occurring in the first 15 minutes. Walsh took a late lead in the closing minutes of the first half and held a 33-29 lead at the break.
The Cavs gradually increased their lead over the course of the second half and extended it to as many as 16 points with roughly two and a half minutes to go.
Four Dragons reached double figures on the night including Morgan Taylor with a team-high 18 points followed by Joshua Rivers and Carius Key each with 15 and Wesley Jordan with 11. Jordan recorded his first double-double of the season, adding a season-high 12 rebounds. He also led the team in assists with four.
Taylor played well defensively as well, tallying two steals and a block to his credit.
It will be a short turnaround for Tiffin as it plays host to Wayne State on Saturday, December 2nd at 3 p.m.
