Tiffin Tops Kentucky State in Home Opener 74-64

 

The Dragons (3-0) earned their third-straight victory to start the year over Kentucky State, fueled by Morgan Taylor's 22 points.

TU shot 45.2% in total from the floor and dominated down low, outscoring the Thorobreds 50-36 in points in the paint.

After a back-and-forth start to the game, the Dragons rattled off a 14-2 run over a six-minute span in the first half to take a 13-point lead at 27-14, the largest of the game to that point. KSU pulled to within eight points by the halftime break, trailing 34-26.

Tiffin never relinquished the lead throughout the second half, however, the Thorobreds cut the deficit to just four before another run from the Dragons extended the lead back out to as many as 14.

Taylor scored a team-high 22 points on 77.0% shooting and converted eight of his nine free throw attempts. He also led the team in assists with four and contributed five rebounds as well. Joshua Rivers finished with 16 points and nine rebounds in just 16 minutes played.

Wesley Jordan also posted 16 points, adding seven rebounds and led the team in steals with four. Brandon Swaby put in a shift off the bench, tallying 10 points and recording the only two three-pointers for the Dragons on 66.6% shooting from deep.

TU has just a one-day break before hosting Edinboro on Saturday, November 18th at 6 p.m. in the Gillmor Center.
