Men's Basketball Cruise Past East-West 109-68

The Tiffin University men's basketball program (9-11, 6-6 GMAC) defeated East-West University 109-68.

Tiffin had an overall dominant performance, shooting 57.3 percent from the field compared to the Phantoms' 37.5 percent, outrebounded the visitors 55-33, and recorded 28 assists versus 11 for the Phantoms. TU had 18 points off turnovers, 14 second-chance points, and 60 points in the paint.

The Phantoms' kept it close early, only down 13-10 in the first five minutes of play. However, Tiffin went on a 10-3 run to lead 23-13 at the 12:52 mark.

East-West rallied with a 7-2 run to cut the lead down to 25-20, but Tiffin's offense caught fire and went on an 18-3 run to lead 38-23 with 6:51 remaining in the first half. The Dragons went into the lead with a 53-33 lead.

TU came out going on a 5-0 run to start the second half, but the Phantoms responded with a 7-0 run to cut the host lead to 60-40. Tiffin went on an 11-2 run to take a 77-45 lead midway through the second half, as the Dragons went 3-for-3 from three-point territory during the run. Tiffin outscored the Phantoms 32-23 the rest of the contest to seal the 109-68 win.

Joshua Rivers led the team with 11 points shooting 5-for-7 from the field, with seven rebounds and four assists, Jacob Pleiman tallied 11 points shooting 4-for-8 from the field and 3-for-7 from beyond the arc, had three rebounds, and one assist and Ian Lopez registered 10 points shooting 5-for-7 from the field, had one rebound, and one assist.
