The Tiffin University men's basketball team will battle two opponents this week starting with Salem on Thursday, January 27 with a 6:00 p.m. start time. Then, the Dragons will host conference opponent Lake Erie on Saturday, January 29 with the game set to start at 3:00 p.m.

Dragon Details:

The Dragons went 1-2 last week against three GMAC opponents.

Morgan Taylor leads the team with 12.3 points shooting 46.0 percent from the field, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.8 assists, and Trent Williams registers 11.7 points, shooting 36.5 percent from the field, and 31.5 percent from beyond the arc, 3.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.1 steals. Tanner Johnson averages 10.9 points shooting 41.1 percent from the field, and 37.6 percent from three-point territory, 5.5 rebounds, 0.8 assists, and leads the team in blocked shots with nine.  

As a team the Dragons are second in the GMAC in total offense, scoring 78.4 points per game, lead the conference in three-pointers made this season with 167, are first in turnover margin averaging plus 5.18 over their opponents, and are second in steals with 7.56 per game. 

 

Scouting the Tigers:

The Tigers are on an eight-game winning streak dating back to December 3.

Salem's offense is led by Fonz Hale who averages 21.6 points shooting 49.6 percent from the field, and 44.4 percent from beyond the arc, 3.4 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.1 steals, followed by Tobias Howard Jr. with 17.8 points shooting 51.2 percent from the field, and 45.6 percent from three-point range, 4.0 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.75 steals. Stan Smith averages 11.8 points shooting 54.1 percent from the field, and 57.1 percent from three-point territory, 2.6 rebounds, and 0.7 steals per game.  

The all-time series is tied between the Dragons and Tigers at 3-3, with the last meeting coming on Nov. 16, 2019 when the Dragons won 84-81.

 

Scouting the Storm:

The Storm went 0-2 last week against Malone and Walsh.

The Storm offense is led by Jordan Burton who averages 14.7 points shooting 43.8 percent from the field, and 36.6 percent from three-point territory, 2.9 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.3 steals, Jonny Manning records 11.9 points shooting 55.4 percent from the field, grabs 6.4 rebounds, and 0.9 assists, and 1.0 blocks, and Kevin Peterson registers 9.6 rebounds shooting 37.7 percent from the field, 4.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 0.7 steals per game.

The Dragons lead the all-time series against the Storm 15-13, with their last meeting coming on Dec. 8, 2021 when the Storm won 70-57.
