The Tiffin University men's basketball team went 0-2 last week. This week, the Dragons head on the road to match up against Lake Erie on Monday, Feb. 15 for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off and Malone on Thursday, Feb. 18 with the game set to start at 8 p.m. Then, Tiffin hosts Walsh on Saturday, Feb. 20 for a 3 p.m. start.

Scouting the Dragons

The Dragons went 0-2 last week. Last time out the Dragons narrowly fell to Trevecca Nazarene 70-69. Three-point shooting was the difference as the Trojans shot 52.4 percent compared to the Dragons 25 percent. 

Tiffin is ranked first in the conference in field goals made per game averaging 9.7 field goals per game. The Dragons lead the conference in turnover margin averaging 4.13 less turnovers than their opponents.

Tiffin has three players in double figures: Wesley JordanTanner Johnson, and Trent Williams.  Jordan averages 12.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.2 steals, teammate Williams averages 11.9 points shooting 39.0 percent from the field, 3.1 rebounds, and 4.7 assists, and Johnson averages 11.1 points shooting 38.6 percent from beyond the arc, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.5 assists.

 

Scouting the Storm

The Storm went 1-1 last week with a win over Trevecca Nazarene. Lake Erie is second in the conference in three-point defense holding their opponents to 29.8 percent. 

The Strom are led by the duo of Jacob Plantz and Jeramie Burge. Plantz averages 12.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.1 steals and teammate Burge averages 10.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 0.7 steals.

The Dragons lead the all-time series against the Storm 15-12, with the last time these two teams played coming on Jan. 21 when the Dragons won 78-71. 

 

Scouting the Pioneers

The Pioneers went 3-1 last week with wins over Lake Erie, Tiffin, and Findlay. Malone is first in the conference in scoring averaging 81.0 points. 

Malone is led by four scorers. Bo Myers leads the group averaging 17.3 points shooting 48.3 percent from the field, and 6.6 rebounds, followed by Bryce Butler who averages 18.4 points shooting 44.7 percent from beyond the arc, 4.2 rebounds, and 4.6 assists. Marcus Ernst scores 15.6 points shooting 61.3 percent from the field, 9.0 rebounds, and 2.9 assists and teammate Justin Miller averages 10.5 points shooting 43.2 percent from the field, 8.1 rebounds, and 3.0 assists.

The Pioneers lead in the all-time series against the Dragons 59-24 with their last meeting coming Feb. 9, 2021 when Malone won 101-91. 

 

Scouting the Cavaliers

Walsh went 0-2 last week. Walsh is fourth in the conference in defense holding their opponents to 68.4 points.   

The Cavaliers' offense is led by Darryl Straighter scoring 18.5 points shooting 42.5 percent from the field, 4.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 0.7 steals and teammate Christian Montague who averages 15.8 points shooting 46.9 percent from the field, 3.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 0.8 steals. 

The Cavaliers lead the all-time series against the Dragons 64-48, with their last meeting coming on Jan. 25 when the Cavaliers won 84-58.
