Men’s Basketball Falls to Malone in Offensive Outburst

The Tiffin University men's basketball team fell to Malone 101-91.

Malone outrebounded Tiffin 40-28 and shot slightly better from the field shooting 56.3 percent compared to the Dragons 48.6 percent.

The Pioneers improve to 7-5 overall and 6-5 in the conference, while the Dragons fall to 5-9 overall and 5-9 in the conference. 

Malone started the first half hot, going up 11-4 early, but Tiffin countered with an 8-0 run to take a 14-13 lead. 

The game stayed within one possession until the Dragons went on an 11-3 run to lead by 8 with 7:49 left in the first. The Dragons were up 46-34 when the Pioneers went on an 8-2 run to end the first half with Tiffin ahead 48-42. 

The Pioneers went on a 7-0 run to start the second half, taking a 49-48 lead. 

Both teams traded buckets in the second half until Malone went on an 8-2 run to lead 72-65. The Pioneers would keep this lead through the rest of the game to win 101-91.  

Wesley Jordan led the Dragons with 23 points, seven rebounds, one steal, and one block followed by Trent Williams who tallied 19 points shooting 8-for-17 from the field, one rebound, six assists, and one steal.

Tanner Johnson scored 12 points, dished six assists, had two rebounds, and one steal. Braxton Foreman notched 11 points shooting 5-for-8 from the field, grabbed three rebounds, and one assist and teammate Dalaino Walker had 11 points, grabbed four rebounds, and one assist. 

Up next the Dragons will host Trevecca Nazarene on Saturday, Feb. 13 with a 3 p.m. tip-off.
