Walsh’s Second Half Leads to Win Over Dragons 84-58

The Tiffin University men's basketball team lost 84-58 to Walsh University, as the Cavaliers outscored Tiffin on points off turnovers 16-0 as well as outrebounded the Dragons 45-35. 

The Cavaliers improve to 5-1 overall and 5-1 in the conference, while the Dragons fall to 3-7 overall and 3-7 in the conference.

Tanner Johnson had a great first half, shooting two quick threes to go ahead 6-2. The Cavaliers would respond by scoring five three pointers to go ahead 21-13. 

The Dragons clawed back, scoring eight unanswered points to tie the game at 21 all. Walsh responded with a 9-0 run of their own to lead 30-21. The Cavaliers held their lead going into halftime up 43-34.

Both teams shot 50% from beyond the arc, as the Cavaliers shot 7-for-13 while the Dragons shot 8-for-16 in the first. 

Walsh started the second half with a 14-2 run to extend their lead to 57-36. 

Walsh's strong second half defense held the Dragons to 24 points. The Cavaliers cruised in the second half to claim the 84-58 victory.

Tanner Johnson led the Dragons in scoring with 17 points shooting 6-for-13 from the field and 5-for-11 from beyond the arc with five rebounds. Wesley Jordan hit double figures, scoring 13 points shooting 4-for-6 from the field and 5-for-7 from the line, along with eight rebounds and one assist. Braxton Foreman added 8 points while Dalaino Walker also had 7 points.

Up next the Dragons will head to Vienna, West Virginia to face Ohio Valley on Saturday with a 3 p.m. start time.
