The Tiffin University men's basketball team went 1-1, last week snapping their five-game skid with a win against Lake Erie. This week, the Dragons head on the road for two games, first on Monday, Jan. 25 against Walsh for a 7:30 p.m. start. Then they head to Ohio Valley on Saturday, Jan. 30 with the game set to start at 3:00 p.m.

Scouting the Dragons

The Dragons went 1-1 last week with a win over the Storm.

Last time out Tiffin's second half comeback fell short, losing 72-62 to Ohio Dominican. The Panthers were more consistent from the field, hitting 52 percent of their shots to Tiffin's 42 percent. They also converted on 15 free throws to Tiffin's 8 and also outrebounded TU 34-25.

Tiffin is ranked fourth in the conference in scoring, averaging 75.0 points per game and is sixth in the conference in three point shooting percentage at 35.2 percent. 

Tiffin has four players in double figures: Jaeden KingWesley JordanTanner Johnson and Trent Williams. King leads the team, scoring 17.6 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.0 steals, followed by Jordan who averages 12.8 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.2 steals. Teammate Johnson averages 11.8 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.3 assists while Williams averages 10.4 points, 3.3 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game. 

Scouting the Cavaliers

The Cavaliers went 1-0 last week with a 73-61 win over Ohio Dominican. Walsh is ranked second in the conference on defense, holding opponents to 61.2 points per game.

Walsh's offense is led by Darryl Straughter who averages 20.8 points per game shooting 48.6 percent from the field, with 4.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists. Christian Montague averages 10.0 points shooting 36.4 percent from the field and teammate Caleb Canter leads the team in rebounds with 6.6 per game, 6.6 points per game and 0.8 blocks.   

The Cavaliers lead in the all-time series against the Dragons 63-25 with their last meeting coming Dec. 14, 2019 when Walsh won 81-70. 

Scouting the Fighting Scots

Ohio Valley went 0-1 last week with a 100-67 loss to Malone.

The Scots have four players in double figures. The balanced attack is led by Cameron Shaw who averages 17.3 points shooting 45.2 percent from beyond the arc, 3.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists followed by Keon Claiborne with 16.9 points shooting 45.1 percent from the field, 3.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists. Teammate Parker Black averages 12.3 points, 6.1 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game and Christian Alley averages 11.5 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists. 

The all-time series between the Dragons and Scots is tied at 2-2 with the last meeting coming on February 20, 2020 when Ohio Valley won 86-81.
