Dragon comeback falls just short at Ohio Dominican

Trailing 18 points in the second half, Tiffin University nearly pulled off a huge comeback victory but fell just short, losing at Ohio Dominican 72-62.

The Dragons (3-6, 3-6 GMAC) played the Panthers close until the closing minutes of the first half. Trailing just 25-19 with 8:00 left in the half, the Panthers exploded for a 13-3 run that propelled them to a 16 point halftime lead 38-22.

The lead quickly grea to 40-22, but the Dragons refused to quit. The Dragons rallied for a huge 27-10 run to pull to within 50-49, and a Wesley Jordan jumper with 6:20 left tied the score 55-55.

Ohio Dominican held its composure, though, regrouping to respond with a 17-7 spread the rest of the way, hitting key free throws to eventually put the game away.

The Panthers were more consistent from the field, hitting 52 percent of their shots to Tiffin's 42 percent. They also converted on 15 free throws to Tiffin's 8 and also outrebounded TU 34-25.

Tanner Johnson canned 5 treys en route to 17 points to lead the team, while Wesley Jordan added 12 points off the bench. 

Eric Turner also had 11 points with 7 rebounds, while Trent Williams and Thomas Hickman combined for 12 points and 11 assists.
