The Tiffin University men's basketball team will dive into GLIAC South competition this week, hosting Davenport University on Thursday evening and then traveling to Detroit for a Saturday afternoon showdown with Wayne State University.

Tough Travels: The Dragons dropped a pair of road games this past week, sitting 0-4 away from home this year. 

Disturbing Defense: The Dragons have had a tough time stopping the opposition this season, allowing 86.3 points per game, 276th nationally. Tiffin is 296th in defensive field goal percentage, 284th in defensive three-point field goal percentage, and 256th in scoring margin. 

Scoring Is Up: The Dragons' offense is averaging 78.8 points per game, 4th best in the GLIAC. Tiffin has scored 70 or more points in 6 of their 7 games and has eclipsed the 80-point mark in 3 of their 7 games. 

Career Year So Far: Tiffin's Alex Brown is on a tear offensively, leading Tiffin in scoring (18.7), three point shooting (55.6%), and assists per game (3.4). Alex recently eclipsed 1,000 career points, and needs 70 rebounds to reach 500 and 30 assists to reach 200 for his career. 

Outstanding Opening Act: The Davenport University Panthers are 7-2 overall and 2-0 in the GLIAC, defeating Purdue Northwest and Grand Valley State last week. The Panthers finished last season 24-9 at the NAIA level, and qualified for the NAIA National Tournament. The Panthers were picked to finish 4th in the GLIAC Preseason Coaches' poll. 

Devastating Defense: The Panthers crushed both of their GLIAC opponents this past week, dropping Purdue Northwest by 40 points and holding the Pride to 58 points on 38.9% shooting from the field. Against Grand Valley State the Panthers tightened their grip on the Lakers, holding GVSU to a season low 55 points on 40.4% shooting. The Panthers forced the Lakers into a season high 18 turnovers leading to 23 Davenport points.

Series Record: The Warriors hold a 12-3 series lead since Tiffin began competing in the GLIAC in 2008.

Offensively Unpleasant: The Warriors have scored 80 or more points only once this year, doing so in an upset victory over Kentucky Wesleyan 90-65. Wayne State's offense is 279th in the nation in scoring at 66.2 points per game. 

Ball Security: The Warriors are tops in the GLIAC in fewest turnovers, committing only 57 in six games. Nationally the Warriors are 16th in the category. 

Turning Up The Heat: Wayne State is 48th in the nation in scoring defense, surrendering only 68.6 points per game. The opposition is connecting on only 44.9% of their field goal attempts and 34.4% of their three point field goal attempts. 

Love Some Home Cooking: Over the past 10 years the Warriors have posted a .644 winning percentage at the Matthaei Center. The Warriors finished last season with a 9-3 record at home. 

Triple Threat: The combination of Ronald Booth, Chuck Key, and Marcus Moore have combined to score 61.5% of the Warriors total points per game this year. Booth leads the team in scoring, averaging 16.7 points on 40.7% shooting from the field and 38.2% from beyond the arc.
