Dragons prepare for Oilers with G-MAC title on the line

Tiffin University (6-3, 6-1 G-MAC) will take on Findlay (6-4, 5-2) on Senior Day at Frost Kalnow Stadium Nov. 12.

A win over the Oilers will earn TU at least a share of the G-MAC Championship with Ashland, who must defeat Kentucky Wesleyan in their regular season finale. 

Tiffin is 3-27 overall against the Oilers, but have won two of the last three games. Both victories resulted in conference championships for the Dragons. They won in 2019 52-45, marking their first victory since 1993, and then repeated in 2020 with a 23-8 win at home to give TU their second consecutive G-MAC title. 

LAST TIME OUT

Tiffin University's drive for three consecutive GMAC Championships came to an end in Findlay on Nov. 13, 2021, as the Oilers won a close battle 26-21. The Dragons allowed 23 first-half points, and it proved too much to overcome. The Oilers scored twice in the first quarter, with the second coming on the heels of a fumbled kickoff that gave Findlay the ball on Tiffin's 33 yard line. Both scores came from runs by Findlay's Brian Benson. 

FINDLAY OFFENSE

-The Oilers' offense averages 28.4 points per game and 348.5 yards per game, and are third in the conference in rushing yards averaging 162.1 per contest.
-Jeremy Hunt leads the offense as the quarterback and has thrown for 1641 yards and 11 passing touchdowns this year. 
-Garret Clark leads the backfield with 171 rushes for 900 yards and seven rushing touchdowns, followed by Jayden Farmer with 82 rushes for 390 yards. 
-Hunt's favorite target is Tanner Schroeder who has 40 receptions for 496 yards and one touchdown receptions Mike Rigerman leads the team with 31 catches for 440 yards and three touchdown catches, and Bryan Hunt has recorded 19 catches for 297 yards and five touchdown catches. 

 

FINDLAY DEFENSE

-The Oilers' defense is fourth in the conference in scoring defense at 17.7 points, fifth in the conference yards allowing only 343.3 total yards this season, and fifth in the GMAC in rush defense allowing 139.8 rushing yards. 
-Findlay's defense is led by Grey Brancifort with 73 tackles, 6.0 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and one interception, Johnny Harris is second on the team in tackles with 60 so far this year, 6.0 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, six pass breakups, and one interception, and Marqis Stokes has registered 58 tackles this season, 1.5 tackles for loss, one fumble recovery, and one pass breakup. 
- Kijana Caldwell leads the secondary with 48 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, and five interceptions, and teammate Jeremiah Jackson is next with 46 tackles, one tackle for loss, one fumble recovery, three interceptions, and one pass breakup. 

 

TIFFIN OFFENSE

- The Dragons' offense is first in the conference as they average 37.8 points per game this season, second in the conference in total yards at 3792 for an average of 421.3 yards per game, second in the conference in rushing yards with 1795, third in the conference in passing yards with 1997 yards, and tied for first in the conference in total touchdowns with 39.
- Christian Carter is 152-for-235 completing 64.7 percent of his passes for 1751 yards, and has thrown for eight passing touchdowns. Carter is third on the team in rushing as he has 71 rushes for 351 yards and nine rushing touchdowns.
- Darius Pinnix leads all rushers as he rushed 128 times for 715 yards and eight touchdowns, and teammate Devin Nelson is second on the team in rushing as he has 62 attempts for 389 yards.  
- Anthony Lowe has been on a tear as he has registered 61 catches for 721 yards and three touchdowns. The senior is first in the conference in all-purpose yards with 231 punt return yards and 295 kick return yards along with three returns for touchdowns.  
- Josh Lewis has put up big numbers with 23 catches for 369 yards and four touchdowns and Jalen Thomas rounds out the group with 27 receptions for 348 yards and three touchdowns.

 

TIFFIN DEFENSE

- Tiffin's defense stays dominant as they are first in the conference in points allowed at 14.3 per game, second in the conference in total yards allowed at 269.8 yards per game, first in the G-MAC in rushing defense only allowing 89.4 rushing yards per game, second in the conference in pass defense allowing 180.3 passing yards per game, tied for first in the conference in sacks with 31, and second in the conference in interceptions with 12.
- Sir Zion Dance leads the defense as he has 67 tackles this season, 3.5 sacks, 4.5 tackles for loss, one pass breakup, and one block, followed by teammate Patrick Tueimeh with 57 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, one pass breakup, and one block.
- Charlie Cleveland has registered 43 tackles, 4 sacks, 7.5 tackles for loss, and six quarterback hurries.
- Barry Brown has recorded 31 tackles, 7.0 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, one interception, and one pass breakup. 
- Chucky Lewis is first on the team in interceptions with five and has registered 34 tackles, 0.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, and three pass breakups. 
- Jermaine Wimpye is second on the team in interceptions with four, 32 tackles, one tackle for loss, and two pass breakups.
- Montez Kelley leads the team in sacks with 6.5 this season, 8 tackles for loss, and one fumble recovery and Latrell Robinson has 23 tackles this year and two sacks.
