Tiffin University (6-3, 6-1 GMAC) tallied 38 second-quarter points en route to the second-highest Division II single-game scoring mark in school history, beating Kentucky Wesleyan 72-13.

TU's 72 points tied the school's mark against Seton Hill in 2005 and was just one point shy of the record of 73 set against Missouri-Rolla in 2007.

The game was close when the Dragons exploded for 38 points in the second quarter. With the score 17-10 Tiffin at the 13:25 mark of the second quarter, TU scored all 38 points over a period of 10 minutes before halftime.

Defensive pressure forced the Panthers to punt the ball away often throughout the first half, with TU getting good field position. After KWC opened with a 39-yard field goal, the Dragons responded quickly after a 74-yard kick return by Darius Pinnix gave TU the ball on the Panthers' 11-yard line.

Anthony Lowe then hauled in an 8-yard pass from Drew Zaubi for TU's first score. He followed that up with a 25-yard TD reception from Zaubi on TU's next possession.

Another three-and-out by the KWC offense gave TU the ball at midfield. Nick Basile booted a 31-yard field goal at the 2:22 mark of the first quarter to make it 17-3 Tiffin.

After KWC hit a big 45-yard TD toss to make it 17-10, the onslaught began for the Dragons. The Dragons got scores from Pinnix at 10:39 on a 3-yard run, then took advantage of a Caleb Streat 16-yard interception return when Jalen Thomas hauled in a 29-yard TD toss from Zaubi at 9:40.

Another KWC fumble on its next possession resulted in a 7-yard run by Will Thomas at 9:25, giving TU 21 points in a span of 1:15. The Dragons got another score at 5:43 when Josh Lewis got a 24-yard pass from Zaubi to make it 45-10.

A score by Pinnix from 6 yards out at 1:16 and a 34-yard field goal by Basile as time ran out in the first half completed TU's barrage.

After a Chucky Lewis interception in the third quarter, TU scored again when Basile hit a 24-yard field goal. Devin Nelson added a 4-yard run at the 2:40 mark of the third quarter to make it 65-10.

TU's final points came at 12:31 of the final quarter when Christian Carter ran it in from 16 yards out.

Overall TU had 30 first downs to KWC's 16 and outgained the Panthers 450-206. They held KWC to -8 yards rushing while rushing for 271 yards of their own. They posted 7 sacks defensively along with two interceptions and a fumble recovery while holding the Panthers to just 2 of 14 on third-down conversions.

Pinnix finished with 94 yards rushing along with 74 kick return yards while Nelson added 76 yards. Zaubi completed 11 of 20 passes for 172 yards with Jalen Thomas totaling 84 yards receiving.

Basile totaled 18 points in the game with 3 field goals and 9 extra points.

Chrystian Watkins led the way with 6 tackles including 2.5 for loss, while Chucky Lewis had 5 stops with an 87-yard interception return. Also getting sacks on the day were Robert Holtz with 2.5, Streat, Mark Woods, and Sir Zion Dance with one apiece, and Charlie Cleveland, Montez Kelley, and Antonio O'Berry getting half sacks each.
