Tiffin University (4-3, 4-1 GMAC) come home to take on Northwood (2-6, 1-4) at Frost Kalnow Stadium Oct. 29 at 4 pm.

Tiffin is 5-8 overall in its history with the Timberwolves. However, all five of those wins have come in their last five meetings, as the Dragons have outscored Northwood in that stretch 175-94. 

LAST TIME OUT

Tiffin University scored 35 unanswered points in the first half en route to a commanding 40-6 win over Northwood on Sept. 11, 2001. The Dragons used a devastating rushing and passing attack combined with tough interior defense and solid pass coverage to take total control of the game. Offensively TU put up 597 yards of offense including 395 through the air. They had a 7:00 possession time advantage with 34 first downs to Northwood's 10.

NORTHWOOD OFFENSE

-The Timberwolves' offense averages 22.5 points per game, 293.0 yards per game, and are fifth in the conference in rushing yards averaging 125.5 per contest.
-Nate Gomez leads the offense as the quarterback and has thrown for 1165 yards and six passing touchdowns this year. 
-Gomez's favorite target is John Hall with 16 receptions for 395 yards and six touchdown catches, Shamarr Wright leads the team with 19 catches for 161 yards, and running back Tajae Leslie registered 14 catches for 152 yards. 
-Brec Alward leads the backfield with 101 rushes for 416 yards and four rushing touchdowns, followed by Ethan Whitley with 56 rushes for 194 yards and two rushing touchdowns.  
-Bryan Kinley leads the team in all-purpose yards with 571 with 473 coming off kick returns, averaging 27.8 yards per return. 

 

NORTHWOOD DEFENSE

-The Timberwolves defense is led by Jace Parrish with 55 tackles, 1.0 tackle for loss, three pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery, Mahlon Slaughter has tallied 48 tackles, 0.5 sacks, 10.5 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery, and Mbaimba Tunkara also has 48 tackles this season, with 2.0 sacks, 7.0 tackles for loss, one fumble recovery, and one block. 
-Northwood's defensive front is led by JaMarrlowe Sykes with 26 tackles, 5.0 sacks, 5.5 tackles for loss, one interception, and one block along with teammate Brock Cook with 19 tackles, 3.0 sacks, 5.5 tackles for loss, and two fumbles recoveries. 
-The defense has produced takeaways as they recovered six fumbles and five interceptions this season.

 

TIFFIN OFFENSE

- The Dragons' offense is second in the conference, averaging 31.4 points per game this season, third in the conference in total yards at 2882 for an average of 411.7 yards per game, second in the conference in rushing yards with 1296, fourth in the conference in passing yards with 1586 yards, and fifth in the conference in total touchdowns with 24.
- Christian Carter is 139-for-213 completing 65.3 percent of his passes for 1582 yards, and has thrown for seven passing touchdowns. Carter is second on the team in rushing as he has 63 rushes for 310 yards and eight rushing touchdowns.
- Darius Pinnix leads all rushers as he rushed 104 times for 604 yards and five touchdowns, and teammate Devin Nelson is third on the team in rushing as he has 43 attempts for 201 yards.  
- Anthony Lowe has been on a tear as he has registered 56 catches for 628 yards and one touchdown. The sophomore is first in the conference in all-purpose yards with 150 punt return yards, and 218 kick return yards along with three returns for touchdowns.  
- Josh Lewis has put up big numbers with 20 catches for 294 yards and three touchdowns and Jalen Thomas rounds out the group with 19 receptions for 230 yards and two touchdowns.

 

TIFFIN DEFENSE

- Tiffin's defense stays dominant as they are second in the conference in points allowed at 16.1 per game, second in the conference in total yards allowed at 301.1 yards per game, second in the GMAC in rushing defense only allowing 110.0 rushing yards per game, third in the conference in pass defense allowing 191.1 passing yards per game, fourth in the conference in sacks with 17, and second in the conference in takeaways with eight interceptions.
- Sir Zion Dance leads the defense as he has 58 tackles this season, 2.5 sacks, 3.5 tackles for loss, one pass breakup, and one block, followed by teammate Patrick Tueimeh with 44 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, one pass breakup, and one block.
- Charlie Cleveland has registered 31 tackles, 2.5 sacks, four tackles for loss, and two quarterback hurries.
- Barry Brown has recorded 28 tackles, 7.0 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, one interception, and one pass breakup. 
- Jermaine Wimpye is first on the team in interceptions with four, 28 tackles, one tackle for loss, and two pass breakups, and teammate Chucky Lewis has 26 tackles 0.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, and three pass breakups. 
- Montez Kelley leads the team in sacks with 3.5 this season.
