Heil, Schneider named to 2019 NFF Hampshire Honor Society

IRVING, Texas - The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) announced today the members of the 2019 NFF Hampshire Honor Society, and Tiffin football senior offensive linemen Dave Heil and Logan Schneider have both received the honor.

The honor society is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college careers. An all-time high of 1,643 players from a record 424 schools qualified for membership in the society's 13th year. Nominated by their respective schools, members of the NFF Hampshire Honor Society must have:

  • Completed their final year of playing eligibility in 2018
    • Graduated players, who have remaining eligibility but will not return to collegiate play (e.g. declared for NFL Draft or retired from football), may also be nominated
  • Achieved a 3.2 cumulative grade point average throughout entire course of undergraduate study
  • Met all NCAA- or NAIA-mandated progress toward degree requirements
  • Been starters or significant contributors throughout the 2018 season

Heil and Schneider anchored a TU offensive line in 2018 that helped the team average 154.5 yards per game on the ground and 271.2 yards per game through the air, rushing for over 100 yards in all but one game and passing for over 250 yards in seven of 11 contests. TU topped 425 total yards of offense on six occasions, and scored more than 25 points eight times. The Dragons also recorded at least one rushing touchdown in nine of 11 games and at least one passing TD in all but one outing.

Tiffin had its best start to a season since 2006, winning their first nine games before finishing the year 9-2 and 6-2 in GMAC play, tying for second-place in the conference. During the year, the Dragons were ranked as high as No. 15 in the nation in the AFCA coaches poll.

Schneider and Heil both served as Tiffin's captains this past season, and both he and Heil will be graduating with degrees in Management.
