Dragon riders open season with home meet

The Tiffin University Equestrian Team hosted their season opener this past weekend at the Seneca County Fairgrounds.  During the double-header horse show, TUEQ competed against teams from Bowling Green State University, Lake Erie College, Oberlin College, University of Akron, Theil College, University of Findlay, University of Toledo, Walsh University, and Youngstown State University.

 

In the morning show, the Tiffin University Equestrian Team started strong with a win from freshman Lindsay Weiser in the Novice division.  In the Walk/Jog division, Samantha Dalton placed 4th and Dylan Saunders finished 2nd. This points Saunders up into the Intermediate I division.  Sophomore Alexis Reisner brought in another blue-ribbon win for the Walk/Jog division.  Competing in the Intermediate I division, McKenzie Sargent had a solid ride, bringing home a 6th.  In the Intermediate II division, Kier Scott and Emily Boersen placed 4th and 5th with steady rides.  The Dragons Novice riders had competitive rides with Rachael Dowczek pinning 3rd, and Miranda Bosler 6th place.  Open rider Ashley Koszalka placed 3rd in the difficult open reining division.  The Dragons Equestrian Team ended the morning 3rd overall out of ten teams.

 

As the sun got hotter and the day got longer, the afternoon show began with Open rider Ashley Koszalka placing 4th in Reining and Open Horsemanship. Novice riders Miranda Bosler and Rachael Dowczek finished 6th in their classes and Lindsay Weiser had a tough ride. In the Intermediate II division, Laina Herniter placed 2nd in her class and Kaitlyn Borer placed 4th.  For the Walk/Jog division, freshman Destiny Marunar placed 3rd, Alexis Reisner finished 4th, and sophomore Jordan Sauer brought home a blue ribbon with her 1st place.  The Tiffin University Equestrian Team finished 5th out of ten teams for the afternoon show.

 

On Saturday, September 30th, the Tiffin University Equestrian Team western riders will travel to Lake Erie College for another double-header hosted by Lake Erie College and Youngstown State University.
