Dragons' offense stymied in pair of losses

Tiffin University (9-13, 1-5 G-MAC) could not get the offense going in a pair of losses to Northwood, falling 4-2 and 4-0.

In the opener, Kyler Archual took the loss, tossing 6.1 innings and allowing just 4 hits and 3 earned runs. 

The Dragons managed just six hits, with Cal Brazier and Michael Zinter collecting doubles.

The Timberwolves broke through in the sixth inning with a run and added two more in the 7th. The Dragons tried to respond, scoring once in the bottom of the 7th inning. Zinter doubled with two outs and came home on a subsequent throwing error by the NU third baseman.

Trailing 4-1 in the 8th, Ben Bach reached on an error at third base. Brazier laced a double to drive him home and make it 4-2. Tiffin had runners on first and third after an error at shortstop, but two consecutive strikeouts ended the threat.

In the nightcap, Noah Kandel started and went 5 innings, allowing 5 hits and 3 earned runs with 5 strikeouts in the loss. Andrew Siler and Mat Carden combined for 2 innings of relief work, allowing 3 hits and one earned run.

TU again had 6 hits in the game, with Griffin Stevens and Ty Hatfield getting two hits each. Ben Bach also had a double.

Northwood scored once in the first inning and again in the second inning to take an early 2-0 lead. The Dragons could not muster their offense, placing only three runners in scoring position for the entire game.
