Boehm's mound effort leads to split with Glenville State

Tiffin University (8-8) got a solid mount outing from Gunnar Boehm, leading to a split with Glenville State on March 12.

Boehm's victory came in a 13-4 blowout victory, while the Dragons gave up runs late to fall in the nightcap 6-4. Overall the Dragons took three of four from GSU on the weekend.

Boehm went 5 innings and allowed 6 hits and 4 earned runs while fanning 5. Ben Hubert closed out the game with 2 innings of no-hit ball. He also had 2 strikeouts.

TU scored in four innings, including a 5-run seventh inning. In the first inning, Aidan Grabowski walked, stole second, and moved to third on a passed ball. TJ Truso then singled him home. Griffin Stevens had a single and also advanced on a wild pitch before coming home on Cal Brazier's single. Ricky Havrilla got another run home with a sacrifice fly.

In the second, Andrew Fairbrother singled and moved up on a wild pitch. Dawson Groch followed with a big home run for two more runs. Grabowski then followed with another single, stolen base, and a wild pitch moved him to third. Stevens then singled for another RBI.

In the fifth, the long ball came into play again as Ty Hatfield drilled a two-run shot following a Brazier walk.

Finally, in the seventh inning, Connor Huzicka, Hatfield, and Groch all walked. Grabowski then singled for 2 RBI, and Hilario DeLaPaz smashed a three-run home run to cap TU's scoring.

Overall Stevens had 3 hits, while Hatfield had 2 hits with a home run for 2 RBI. Grabowski had 2 hits and 2 RBI, while Fairbrother also had 2 hits.

In the nightcap, Logan Fisher took the loss, going 5.1 innings and fanning 7 while allowing 4 earned runs on 3 hits.

Tiffin trailed 2-0 early but came back to tie it in the fourth inning. Stevens smacked a home run. Ben Bach walked, followed by a Brazier single. Tommy Thamann then singled home another run to tie the score 2-2.

In the sixth, Stevens opened with a triple and Brazier walked. DeLaPaz then doubled in a run, and Havrilla got another run across with a sacrifice fly. TU took a 4-2 lead into the bottom of the sixth but GSU answered with four runs to take the lead and go on to the win.

Stevens had 3 more hits in game two with a triple and home run, while DeLaPaz added a double.
